I moved to Detroit in 1998 to study Fine Arts at the College for Creative Studies. Even after living here for 10 years I continue to be amazed and inspired by this diverse urban environment, and more and more my artwork is becoming about Detroit. This year I began making paintings of the downtown area. While urban landscape painting is a new venture for me. I enjoy the challenge of painting these scenes and I believe that tuning my attention to the beauty around me helps me to better understand this wonderfully complex environment. This year also marks a return to figurative painting for me, as I have begun to work with models after a 6 year hiatus. Painting is my favorite way of sharing with others the amazing people and places that I encounter in Detroit.
